Details:
On arrival in Kathmandu, Nepal the holiday starts with time to take in this fascinating city and see the numerous places of interest of Kathmandu and its temples. The trek then begins towards Lhasa in Tibet with some travel by land cruiser and the option of some walks along the way. You then spend time exploring the historical centre of the Tibetan Buddhists. There will be opportunity to visit Potala Palace and the Norbulinka the former home and summer palace of the Dalai Lama as well as the Barkhor markets and the Jokhang temple. There is a magical quality about being in Lhasa and amongst the Tibetan Buddhist people. The journey continues on through various villages towards the sacred Mount Kailash. Once at Mount Kailash the group will complete a Kora around the mountain. Many believe this mountain is the centre of the universe and the fact that it is close to the sources of four main rivers of the Indian sub continent only adds to its mystique. The Kora around the mountain for the Buddhists is part of their journey to enlightenment and they regard a visit to this sacred mountain as an essential pilgrimage. On completion of the Kora you will visit Lake Manasarowar. Many Buddhists visit this holy lake in their quest for enlightenment. The trek concludes by travelling across the vast and beautiful plains of Tibet back to Kathmandu and then on to London. This holiday will allow you to experience the awesome scenery of Tibet, the ancient Buddhist culture, to be amongst the famous Himalayas and complete a challenging trek in altitude. It is a holiday to be remembered. For prices and availability please contact Claire on telephone number 01430 471860.
