Details:
This 2 or 3 week holiday starts with some time in Kathmandu to sight see and explore this interesting and exciting city. There are numerous things to do for the family including the Monkey Temple, the Kings Palace and numerous temples and monasteries. This also allows time to rest following the journey to Nepal. The trek starts with a short flight over the Himalayas to Lukla which gives the most amazing insight into the vastness of this mountain range. You then trek slowly up to Namche Bazaar where the Sherpa people originate from. Time is allowed here for acclimatisation and Everest can be seen. The trek continues on to Tengboche where there is a wonderful monastery to visit and an opportunity to meet the monks residing there. The group will divide at this point with the 2 week group trekking on to the village of Pangboche before their trek home. The Base Camp group will continue to Kalapathar for the most magnificent views of Mount Everest as well as numerous other significant mountains. From here the group will continue in to Base Camp itself. This holiday is designed for and not exclusive to families. It allows time to be in the mountains, be involved with the expeditions on Everest, and includes the whole family. The trek will be challenging and require a reasonable level of fitness, it will be exciting as well as educational for the children. This holiday is an adventure of a lifetime to experience as a family. The minimum age for children will be discussed and as a guide we suggest eight years depending on their maturity. For prices and availability please contact Claire on telephone number 01430 471860.
