Details:
Having arrived in Kathmandu time is allowed to acclimatise, purchase equipment and see the city before taking a short flight to Lukla deep in the mountains. From here the trek begins taking you through Namche Bazaar the centre of the Sherpa community and to Tengboche where there is a famous Buddhist Monastery to visit if desired. The whole group trek to Kalapathar from where you will be able to see Everest base camp and it's hive of activity as the numerous expeditions go about their business to climb the highest mountain in the world. There are some stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam along the way and for those wishing to climb the peak the trek to Kalapathar will be excellent acclimatisation. Those who wish to climb Island Peak will spend a couple of days trekking to it's base camp and climbing the peak which is 6189 metres high. The peak involves some climbing with crampons and ice axe and areas where the group is roped. Previous experience is preferable, however, a good level of fitness is essential. There will be a team of experienced high altitude Sherpas to assist and guide the group to reach the summit. Whether trekking or climbing this trip is superb for it's scenery, the people and the experience of being in the Everest region of Nepal.
